In order to provide relief to students and parents in Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council has taken an important decision. Under this decision, now only NCERT and government recognized books will be taught compulsorily in all schools from class 9th to 12th. This step is being considered as a major reform in the direction of bringing transparency in the education sector and stopping commission taking.
Now only government books in schools
According to the new instructions, all government, aided and private schools of the state will now have to teach only from NCERT and Board approved books. For a long time, complaints were being received that many schools were pressurizing students to buy expensive books from private publishers. This placed additional financial burden on parents and unnecessarily increased the cost of education.
After the implementation of this new system, now all the students will get the same study material, which will bring uniformity in studies.
Commissioning will be banned
The biggest reason behind this decision is to end the ongoing practice of commission commission in schools. In many cases, it was seen that some schools used to sell books in collaboration with private publishers and took commission in return. Now when only government and authorized books will be valid, such activities will automatically be stopped. This will make the education system more transparent and the interests of the students will be protected.
Parents will get direct benefit
Students and their parents will get the biggest benefit of this decision. Whereas earlier thousands of rupees had to be spent on books of the same class, now NCERT books will be easily available at low prices.
Apart from this, the compulsion of unnecessary guides and extra books will also end. This will provide a lot of relief to the families of middle and low income group.
Strict monitoring and action
The board has also made it clear that strict action will be taken against schools violating this rule. For this, inspection campaigns will be conducted from time to time and if found guilty, fine or other administrative action can be taken. Besides, monitoring will also be increased to stop the sale of fake and unauthorized books in the market, so that students can get only correct and certified material.
Big step towards improving education
This decision will not only reduce the financial burden of students, but will also strengthen the quality and transparency of education. Uniform curriculum and certified books will provide students with a better preparation opportunity, especially for board exams.
